Look out Bambi Man is at it again!!
While I am not a hunter I do understand the need to control the population of our wild animals-so ok. My issue is not with the hunting of deer but with living with them. I live in NW Indiana just south of Chicago and it is in no way a rural area. Going to and from my office I drive a strip of road that is two lanes with two turn lanes making it a four lane road. Over the last several weeks I have had to stop to let assorted deer cross the road to avoid smashing into them. Ok I've got 5 minutes I can spare to save a life. Mine and or the deer's!! My problem is my fellow drivers. Last night at 7:15 I came upon a heard of 7 deer trying to cross in the same spot on the same busy street. Trying to help, I stopped in the middle of the street, put on my flashers and began flashing my headlights to get the attention of other drivers. No one paid any attention to me. It was like a race track. Fortunately for the deer and the several motorist who zoomed around me no one was maimed or killed. My question is-what does it take to get motorist to acknowledge there might be a danger on the road. Are we so oblivious to each other that we can pass at top speed a small woman in a flashing car with no notice.
As a Real Estate agent I spend a huge number of hours in my car-I'd really like to think that I can count on the other humans out there to watch out for the deer and me.

I sympathize with your issue! I'm not surprised at all with the other motorists reactions and obvious, oblivion to the issue at hand. Just look at how most motorists treat ambulances, fire trucks and police cars "With Sirens blareing and Lights Blinking!" You would think the other motorists would exercise a small bit of common sense? And yet they continue to ignore the obvious, Something.... made You STOP! If only they would ponder, and consider their actions, Hmmmmm Something to think about? It's similar to the plight of allowing drivers to use cell phones while driving! Something I'm totally against.
